History

Founded in 1963 by Don Austin and a former partner, Astra Tool Company began business as a machine shop in Carrollton, Texas. After 7 years of making parts for companies such as Texas Instruments, Collins Radio, Rockwell International and Otis Engineering, among others, Astra Tool Company ceased their machine shop operations and began buying and selling machines and accessory items.

Don's son David joined the company in 1970, after Don's partner left Astra Tool. Since that time, the Austins have witnessed major changes in American industry and economics. With the experience gained through each of their more than 27 years of involvement in the industry, Don and David both are able to guide prospective buyers to the right machines and accessories to most economically solve their machining problems.

MDNA

Since 1973, Astra Tool Company has been an active member in the Southwest Chapter of the MDNA (Machinery Dealers National Association). Through contacts with other machinery dealers throughout the nation who are fellow members of MDNA, Astra Tool is able to confidently conduct business with these used machinery dealers. As well, Astra Tool Company, along with all MDNA dealers have all agreed to certain standards of business ethics. Consequently, you can expect your business transactions to be handled in an honest manner with Astra Tool Company.

Facilities

Astra Tool Company is located at 531 Industrial Blvd. in Grapevine, Texas. Our building is a 7200 Sq Ft Metal Building with 12'x 12' Overhead Doors. With several skylights and a few flourescent units, on overcast days visibility is still quite good while being excellent on sunny days. Most machines are able to be inspected under power with 230 Volt - 100 Amp - 3 Phase power available. We also have a 460 Volt Transformer for supplying power to higher voltage machines.

Astra Tool Company has several Pallet Racks loaded with a large assortment of used machine accessory items, tooling, cutting tools, precision instruments and inspection tools. Again, most of what we stock is for Conventional machines, although we do have a limited supply of CNC accessories.
